Just another reason to hate on China......

I think I have a solution to the Chinese fetus-eating epidemic - if we could get these folks to switch to eating all the shitty skateboards they make (you're probably riding one right now or were 'til it broke yesterday after a week of light use) then we have a win-win on our hands - we get the Chinese infant mortality rate down AND increase demand for American-made boards - what am I missing here..........??!!

Recall of Chinese Toys Adds to Safety Concerns

I been busy tryin' to get the ADDIKT website together - what? You ain't seen that s*** yet? You better get some:
www.addiktskateboards.com
Props to Christian Cooper of Concrete Disciples/Hexane Media fame for hooking us up.
And now on to other news:

SHANGHAI - American consumer protection authorities this week recalled more Chinese-made skateboards for children, a move that could further fan concerns about the safety of Chinese exports.
Yesterday the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall notice for skateboard decks from several major American skateboard companies that were found to contain dangerously high levels of sawdust.
The commission said the skateboards were of inferior constructon and that, if used while performing a "handrail" or "stair" stunt could snap and cause serious injury.
It took action after an 11-year-old boy required extensive surgery to repair damage suffered when his skateboard snapped during a "handrail" maneuver and became lodged in his groin.....
.....OK so I stretched the truth a bit, but if they make automobile tires that blow out and toys with too much lead in them and toxic pet food and toothpaste that causes seizures, what makes you think they can make skateboards? That's what I thought.........

C'mon Over To My House....

Damn! Has it been two weeks already.....?? Well, for you folks of a certain age who are fortunate enuf' to not have to care about this s***, late March/early April is tax time, and the tax man has ADDIKT by the proverbial balls....Balance Sheets? Income Statements? Cash Flow? Inventory? What the f*** is that???? All we know is we finished our first year in business with a spectacular loss (which we like to think of as a "tax write off")........proof positive that we are (and will likely remain) America's best unknown skate brand -
F*** Yeah!!!!! Hey everyone! By all means, please continue to buy overpriced skateboards from the "Support A Pro" goon squad or cheap "Made in China" shop decks from your local retarder - uh, I mean retailer, cuz' we barely have enough capacity (approximately 400 decks per year and counting) to meet the insatiable demand for
  • GREAT LAKES MAPLE

  • that is lovingly cut, glued, pressed and shaped into some of the highest quality skateboards known to man IMHO.....
To celebrate our 1st year of total indifference to current market trends in the skate industry, we threw a house party @ 2300 ADDIKT Ave.

and everyone (or so it seems) was invited - ah, nothing like celebrating the discovery of a BY pool with 15 or so of your closest friends....

This one was called "Dead Cat Pool" for obvious reasons:

    After watching Scott

and a couple others guys kill this ridiculously kinked, mega-vert pool with row-upon-row of 6"x6" tile and multiple levels of massive coping that was NOT user-friendly, we ventured off towards greener (and less-crowded) pastures with names like "Orange Cove" and "Selma" - that's the only hint you get, fool....!!

.....And Now We Return To Our Regularly Scheduled Programming

Sorry - we got carried away with all that skating in the Grand Cayman - what were we thinking? Back to the s*** that really matters - industry propaganda. While we were skating/avoiding the ASR in the Cayman, the IASC fired the shot heard 'round the world:
UNDER FIRE - A SPECIAL REPORT REPORT ON THE HARDGOODS MARKET
And even a little sticker on the front that says:
IASC PREVIEW ISSUE - 1ST BOUND COPY
    THIS COPY BELONGS TO: __________________________
All those capital letters! Gawd that's enough to give you a hard on or something.....
Long-story-short: Whatever. You can judge for yourself if you go here:
  • A World Without Pros

  • (i.e. "Support A Pro" - buy pro model boards or skateboarding will cease to exist? R-i-g-h-t......)
Or maybe you take the contrarian view:
  • A World Without CEOs

  • (i.e. "Skate with a Bro" - Be what you are/Ride whatever you want? Sounds reasonable)
Or maybe you just like to masturbate (clearly the target demographic according to Fuel TV based on the number of ads for the Army, acne medications, and body spray):
  • A World Without Skate Shops

  • (i.e. "Let's Just Talk About Skating" - Maybe if we talk about it enough.....)
After a comprehensive, exhaustive analysis of this perplexing dilemna, the research staff at ADDIKT have prepared what is, in our view, a well-reasoned, articulate reponse:

    Over It

Was trying to save some of the fotos cuz' there's a Grand Cayman article comin' out in Concrete Wave next month and didn't want to ruin it, but.......well, let's just say I'm not ruining anything by posting these fotos - I'm claiming the article but other than a foto or two I am not responsible for the visual stimuli....if looking at fotos of 10 year old kids about to do their first tail drop doesn't do it for you, skip the CW article and check the last of our CI fotos out - Packy was all over the Black Pearl - think he was seriously considering dropping out of VT and getting a bartending job on the island - did I mention that Absinthe is legal there? Ah, back to where we started - Getting Tight in the Grand Cayman...........

    Welcome to Hell (Part 3)

Back to the Black Pearl, where we continue to cover the 62,000 square feet of skatepark - Packy skates the pool, Aryeh ollies over the locals - all in a days work.....the Black Pearl is worth a trip to Grand Cayman alone, not to mention the Absinthe, wayward Canadian girls, world class snorkeling and general tropical island atmosphere....OK this is almost over, I swear - when you start to sound like a travel agent it's time to cut the s***........

    Danger @ Dolphin Point

NOTE: If you want to keep skaters away from your property, its probably not a good idea to post a sign and use words like "DANGER","KEEP OUT","UNSAFE","ENTER AT OWN RISK", and "INJURIES OR DEATH" - that's like saying' "Hey c'mon in here and find something to skate on!" If you wanna' keep skaters away, try putting up a sign that says "Public Skatepark - Pads Required - Pay @ Front Desk" - that will keep 'em away for sure..........
